About the Journal

The MEDICINSKI GLASNIK (Medical Gazette) is a peer-reviewed medical journal published annually as one volume comprising four issues. With a continuous publication tradition of more than thirty years, the journal is an established platform for disseminating scientific and professional knowledge in endocrinology and related fields.

The journal originated in 1990 under the title Glasnik, founded by the Special Institute for the Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of Thyroid Diseases in collaboration with the Clinic of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolic Diseases, University Clinical Center of Serbia, Belgrade. Its primary mission was to facilitate access to contemporary developments in all fields of medicie, encompassing both national and international research.

Following institutional development and expansion into an institute-level entity, the journal relaunched in 2000, with its first issue marking the Second Scientific Meeting on Thyroid Diseases. In 2005, the journal adopted its current title, Medicinski glasnik. Over time, it has maintained strong editorial leadership, including Prof. Dr. Dragan Micić (Editor, 2001–2003), Prof. Dr. Ruben Han (2003–2008), Prof. Dr. Božo Trbojević (2003-2016), and, since 2016, Prof. Dr. Miloš Žarković (Editor-in-Chief).

Aims and Scope

The Medicinski glasnik publishes original research articles, reviews, clinical studies, and professional contributions in

    • Endocrinology and metabolism
    • Thyroid diseases (with a particular focus on thyroidology)
    • Endocrine surgery
    • Internal medicine and related disciplines

Special emphasis is placed on metabolic disorders, particularly obesity, reflecting the longstanding clinical and research focus of the Special Hospital for Thyroid and Metabolic Diseases “Zlatibor.”
The journal also features the following:

    • Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines
    • Updates from professional medical and paramedical associations
    • Historical perspectives on medicine and notable contributors to the field
